We are looking for a Maintenance Technician with prior experience repairing and maintaining warehouse/industrial equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation including and not limited to conveyors, shuttle systems, etc...
Hours of Work: 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday, with occasional afternoon/weekends

Reporting to the Head of Logistics, you will be responsible for:
Preventative Maintenance:
- Perform scheduled maintenance on the Knapp shuttle system, conveyors, carton erectors, packaging machines, and other warehouse automation equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues before they escalate into larger problems.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs promptly to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with vendor hotline support to resolve complex technical issues.
- Replace or repair defective components, including motors, sensors, belts, and other mechanical or electrical parts.
Facility Maintenance:
- Support regularly scheduled facility maintenance and repairs by partnering with contractors as needed
- Support facility upgrades and renovations
- Responsible for some general maintenance to the building and grounds.
Documentation and Inventory Management:
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, work orders, and spare parts usage.
- Track and manage spare parts inventory to ensure critical components are always available.
Equipment Cleaning and Housekeeping:
- Ensure major equipment, including conveyors, are cleaned regularly to maintain peak efficiency and compliance within operational standards.
Safety Compliance:
- Promote and comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures including appropriate use of PPE, Lockout, WHMIS, etc.
- Work closely with Health and Safety personnel to ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with safety regulations.
- Conduct routine safety checks on equipment and report hazards immediately.
- Attend monthly JH&S Committee meetings.
Support Additional Equipment:
- Oversee the maintenance of other equipment as needed, such as material handling equipment and warehouse automation systems.
Process Improvement & Expense Management:
- Recommend process improvements to enhance the performance and reliability of equipment.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in industrial maintenance.
- Monitor and control maintenance expenses, supplies and inventories.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
What YOU will bring to this role:
- Minimum of 5 years in industrial maintenance, and mechanical repair, or similar roles.
- Experience with automated systems like the Knapp shuttle system, conveyors, and packaging machinery is highly desirable.
- Candidates with a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT), or Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (IMM) certification are greatly preferred and/or other skilled trades certifications.
- Strong mechanical, and automation troubleshooting skills are required. Electrical skills are an asset.
- Proficiency in using maintenance software to manage work orders and parts inventory.
- Basic programming knowledge (e.g., PLC troubleshooting) is an asset.
- Experience ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out in full compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), following safety protocols, conducting regular safety inspections, and promoting a safe work environment for all employees.
- Experience and understanding of hazardous goods movement and storage of materials and maintaining equipment safely within that environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders and maintain detailed maintenance records.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (intermediate)
- Self-starter who can perform in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Effective in managing priorities and working time.
- A proven ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization, both internally and externally.
- Keen self-awareness and alignment with a workplace culture that is built on humanistic values and continuous improvement.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds regularly), climb ladders, and work in confined spaces as needed.
- Work in person in our Guelph facility but can travel as needed to our other facilities.
- Flexibility to occasionally work afterhours and/or weekends as required; and respond to on-call emergencies.
