The Financial Analyst is accountable for design and delivery of management information (MI) reports to support finance and MI reporting needs.
The key responsibility of the Financial Analyst is to assist the AVP, Finance Operations to deliver management reports to Executives, FLTs, business VPs and business partners.
The Financial Analyst plays a key role in the preparation of P&L reporting pack and ensuring various MI reports are prepared to a high standard. This role will be working closely with FP&A, Reinsurance, Investment, Reserving, Tax, Financial Reporting and Finance Operations teams.

What you'll do:
- Collaborate with business partners to gather requirements and understand reporting needs.
- Build & improve management reports by efficiently making use of system capabilities and keep run time at a minimum.
- Use SmartView for Excel-based reporting and data analysis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reports.
- Perform assessments of existing MI Reports to provide recommendation to Manager on areas for improvements and take initiative in improving processes.
- Ensure internal controls and quality measures are in place to maintain report quality.
- Deliver MI reports consistently, timely and accurately to business collaborators and finance business partners.
- Collaborate with various teams to deliver P&L pack to executives & provide other management information (MI) reports to business partners.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business administration / commerce
- CPA designated or working towards it.
- Two years working experience in finance operations or reporting with proven experience in managing customer expectations.
- Solid understanding in financial accounting, reporting and account hierarchy management.
- Strong technical knowledge in insurance industry (general insurance and or life insurance) preferable.
- Experience using SmartView based reporting tools such as Essbase.
- Sound understanding of financial, strategic and expense management processes.
- Experience with ERP, Hyperion Essbase or other reporting tools will be an asset.
- Sophisticated Microsoft Excel skills.
- Good understanding of financial principles and business operations.
- Strong ability to analyze data and drill down to the General ledger level to ensure accuracy. Experience with using ERP general ledger is an asset.
- High level of accuracy in reporting and analysis and ensuring internal controls and quality measures are in place.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and ability to work collaboratively.
What you’ll get:
- The salary band for this position ranges from $54,500 to $101,100. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
