Director of Marketing

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Head of Digital Solutions, the Director of Marketing will define and execute marketing strategies that help drive business growth within TMX’s Capital Formation and TSX Trust lines of business. In addition, as part of the marketing leadership team, this role will be responsible for advancing our digital marketing capabilities to improve and extend our awareness and engagement with key stakeholders around the world.
The ideal candidate brings a proven track record of strategic, analytical, and digital-focused marketing experience, with expertise within the Canadian capital markets ecosystem. They will also bring a desire for continuous learning, to help TMX stay on top of the ever-evolving marketing landscape. They are a natural leader, versatile, and adaptable in all aspects of providing marketing strategies to solve business challenges.
Key Accountabilities:
- Plans and develops marketing strategies and detailed plans that are based on a strong knowledge of business objectives and TMX target audiences, and enabled through marketing channels and digital technologies. Leads the implementation of these marketing plans via integrated programs (digital campaigns, advertising, promotions, events, etc.), ensuring that they are a success.
- Defines and executes the creation of new/improved marketing tools and processes; is creative in the role, and stays abreast of emerging trends.
- Actively measures marketing activities to ensure that their impacts can be assessed. Defines and implements tools and processes to monitor identified marketing metrics. Uses these metrics to advise business leadership teams on revised/new marketing strategies in alignment with business objectives.
- Advises business leaders on specific opportunities to highlight their businesses with industry stakeholders, working closely with the Heads of Corporate Communications and Government Relations.
- Manages a marketing budget aligned with key business unit growth initiatives. Plans and ensures adherence to this annual budget. Leads annual marketing and marketing initiative budget planning, including both resource-based and program expenditures.
- Leads, coaches, and develops a team of Marketing professionals.
- This position requires some local and other business travel, circumstances permitting.
Must Have Skills:
- Post-secondary education in Marketing, Business/Commerce, or a relevant field of study.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in marketing, including 3-5 years in a people manager role. Specific and demonstrated experience in the creation, delivery, and measurement of digital marketing campaigns across channels.
- Proven experience in the Canadian capital markets ecosystem.
- Strong client understanding and focus with an excellent business acumen.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skill with a good sense of planning, organization and prioritization.
- Effective at working in a matrix structure.
- Equal comfort in participating in senior strategic and business discussions and taking a hands-on approach to executing.
- Effective and demonstrated leadership skills, including an ability to motivate employees and influence business teams.
- Vision and creativity for developing innovative solutions and the ability to establish effective interpersonal relations.
