Established multi-site Childcare Operator seeks a Permanent Kitchen/Float position at our Tumpane Child Care Centre location.

Position: Full Time

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Current Food Handler Certificate
  • Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR – AED Level C
  • Current and Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)
  • Complete Toronto Public Health Medical and Immunization requirements

Kitchen Skills Required:

  • Adhere to and maintains hygiene, sanitary practices and appropriate food handling as per Toronto Public Health requirements
  • Maintain a safe clean and orderly kitchen
  • Planning menus for the children in consultation with the Supervisor
  • Reviewing the children’s dietary needs and provides appropriate substitutes
  • Planning and ordering food in consultation with the Supervisor
  • Ensuring the Centre is adequately stocked and prepared and ordering the wholesale food and cleaning supplies in consultation with the Supervisor
  • Preparing snacks and lunches as per the posted menu, any substitutions must be approved by the Supervisor
  • All menu substitutions must be posted without delay
  • Serving daily lunches and snacks as per scheduled requirements
  • Delivering lunch cutlery and dishes to designate classrooms in an aesthetically pleasing manner
  • Ensuring the food is covered when being delivered
  • Ensuring that snacks are available for the following morning
  • Rotating and labeling the food stock to ensure quality and freshness
  • Adhering to the basic cleaning schedule by documenting and signing off on the compliance [daily/weekly and monthly basis]

Classroom Skills:

  • Warm and Energetic individual who has the ability to work with Children of all ages, experience with ***** age group is an asset
  • Must possess strong initiative and organizational skills and have a positive attitude
  • Dependable and Flexible - arrives on time and ready to commence work as scheduled
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with Children, Staff and Parents, ICSG Management, and any other Governing Agencies
  • Must have general knowledge of Childcare Operations and an ability to comply with all the requirements from CCEYA/AQI/TPH/ICSG [incl. TDSB Policies and Procedures for sites located in TDSB]
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment
  • Has the ability to implement an Early Childhood Program as per requirements set out by governing agencies
  • Maintain Room control with positive Behaviour Management Strategies
  • Ability to plan and implement a program

Assets:

  • Working Knowledge of the Lillio Application (Parent Portal)
  • Experience with laptop/tablet use to program and record Children’s profiles
  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or Equivalency (not required)
  • ECA Certificate (Not required)
  • Any relevant experience working with Children (not required)

Hours of work:

  • 8 hours/day [40 hours/week]
  • Centre Hours of Operation are 7:00am – 6:00pm
