ROLE REPORTING AND LOCATION
This Strategy Senior Manager will be part of the Segment Strategy team and will report directly to the Director of Segment Strategy to create shareholder value by working on the most important strategic initiatives across the Segment.
This mostly remote position is based in Ontario and requires up to 25% travel to TE client locations.
Role Description And Key Responsibilities
In this critical role, the Strategy Senior Manager will support the Segment in developing strategies that drive above-market organic and inorganic growth, managing projects to help identify new growth platforms / opportunities in attractive market spaces, and working closely with Management to prioritize both cross-functional involvement and real-time input as the external environment (e.g., technology, customer needs, regulations, competitors, etc.) evolves.
Key responsibilities will fall into four major areas: Strategy Planning & Tracking, Market / Competitive Intelligence, Growth Strategy (organic and inorganic), and Talent Development. These include:
ꟷ Guide and coach project team members in using a hypothesis-driven approach
ꟷ Manage projects and develop deliverables and executive presentations
ꟷ Frame discussion of findings and recommendations
ꟷ Assess organic and inorganic opportunities on multiple dimensions
ꟷ Ensure that the business strategies clearly articulate the business choices, are well-defined, and lay out the talent and resource requirements
ꟷ Track execution of the long-term strategy through a select set of strategy-to-execution KPIs, synthesize implications to the strategic plan and recommend potential course corrections
Success in the role requires business acumen and a strategic mindset, exceptional communication and presentation skills, the ability to work seamlessly with stakeholders at multiple levels in the organization, an ability to managing teams and leading projects from start to end, and the skills and tenacity to achieve results through influence and enthusiasm.

- Guiding the Segment on its “where to play” and “how to win” choices to drive growth, improve profitability, and sustain competitive advantage globally and regionally
- Lead cross-functional teams in solving business problems using a hands-on hypothesis-driven approach:
ꟷ Guide and coach project team members in using a hypothesis-driven approach
ꟷ Manage projects and develop deliverables and executive presentations
ꟷ Frame discussion of findings and recommendations
ꟷ Assess organic and inorganic opportunities on multiple dimensions
- Support the strategic planning process and deepen strategic capabilities in the organization
ꟷ Ensure that the business strategies clearly articulate the business choices, are well-defined, and lay out the talent and resource requirements
ꟷ Track execution of the long-term strategy through a select set of strategy-to-execution KPIs, synthesize implications to the strategic plan and recommend potential course corrections
- Actively develop talent, providing coaching and feedback to junior members of the team
- Anticipate market changes and assess their strategic and economic impact today and in 5-10 years
- Advise the senior leadership team on selecting the most attractive opportunities and acquisition targets to strengthen product portfolio and go-to-market capabilities
Success in the role requires business acumen and a strategic mindset, exceptional communication and presentation skills, the ability to work seamlessly with stakeholders at multiple levels in the organization, an ability to managing teams and leading projects from start to end, and the skills and tenacity to achieve results through influence and enthusiasm.
Previous Professional experience
- 3 years or more of management consulting experience post graduate degree
- 2 years or more of experience working in corporate strategy for an industrial company in the automotive space (OEMs, Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers)
- Experience interfacing with executives and C-suite through effective communication of ideas and plans
- Track record of demonstrated leadership potential in a business environment
- Sense of tact, confidentiality, and maturity
- Undergraduate and graduate degrees
- Engineering degree is highly desirable
- MBA degree is highly valuable
- Expertise in strategic planning and in implementing strategy within a complex organization
- Experience dealing with strategic business issues (e.g. industry structure, operations strategy & finance)
- Ability to structure and solve complex problems using a hypothesis-driven approach
- Ability to understand the big picture and prioritize key initiatives.
- Intellectual curiosity and rigor
- Extreme attention to details.
- Ability to structure work, manage strategy projects, and implementation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills – able to synthesize and communicate key messages
- Excellent active listening skills
- Track record of solving complex business problems

- Expertise in one or more business strategy and/or operations strategy areas
- Transportation/mobility environment knowledge is preferred, but not required

Compensation
- Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: CAD150,000 - CAD 200,000 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
- Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
