Position Overview
The Training Specialist (Bilingual) will play a pivotal role in the implementation of the First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan’s Principle Settlement (FNCFSJP) – Claims Helper Program. This role supports the design, development, and delivery of engaging and culturally safe training programs for a large project team on a national scale.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in instructional design, virtual training delivery, and technical proficiency, particularly in e-learning platforms and tools. They will work closely with the Training Lead to create impactful training materials, courses, and resources that enhance program execution while ensuring cultural responsiveness and trauma-informed practices. This position also involves technical support, quality assurance, and ongoing program improvement to meet organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Learning Material Development
- Create engaging training resources, including graphics, diagrams, and interactive course components.
- Develop video and audio content for instructional purposes, including scripting, recording, and editing.
- Design and format e-learning materials using Articulate and similar tools, ensuring consistency with branding and accessibility standards.
- Develop interactive elements (e.g., quizzes, activities) to promote engagement and learning outcomes.
- Ensure culturally safe and trauma-informed practices are embedded in all training materials.
Course Building and Delivery
- Upload finalized training materials (text, images, multimedia) to the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Conduct quality assurance checks to identify errors, inconsistencies, or functionality issues.
- Assist in the planning and execution of virtual training sessions for large-scale national teams.
- Provide basic technical support to learners navigating the LMS or resolving other technical challenges.
Project Support
- Conduct research to inform training content development and ensure materials are accurate and relevant.
- Maintain organized documentation of course versions, learner data, and project assets.
- Gather and input learner feedback or survey results to evaluate training effectiveness.
- Support the Training Lead with other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Fluency in French and English (written and spoken) is required for this bilingual role.
- 2-5+ years of experience in training program design, curriculum development, instructional design, teaching, or program execution.
- Post-secondary diploma in educational technology, instructional design, computer science, communications, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in e-learning tools such as Articulate, LMS platforms, and multimedia editing software.
- Proficiency in file management systems (e.g., SharePoint) and ability to create workflows and templates.
- Experience designing and facilitating interactive, virtual training sessions.
- Ability to write clear, concise instructional text, video scripts, and audio content.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude, with the ability to quickly learn and apply new software and tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with various teams.
- Cultural humility and a personal commitment to reconciliation and working with Indigenous communities.
- Preference will be given to candidates who self-identify as Indigenous and/or have experience living or working with Indigenous communities.
