POSITION: Administrative Control Clerk

DEPARTMENT: Diagnostic Imaging

CONDITIONS: Part-time (0.60 FTE)

HOURS: Approximately 45.0 Bi-weekly hours

SHIFTS: Days / Evenings / Nights/ Weekends, 7.5 hours per shift (subject to change)

WAGE RANGE: Scale Minimum Maximum, NONU $26.87/hr $32.57/hr


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To provide clerical, reception, and communication service and support to the patient care areas and staff to optimize flow of patients and information
  • Transcribing physician orders as per QCH policy
  • Completing Order Entry (OE) - Processing paper and electronic requisitions, requesting consults, tests, procedures and follow-up appointments at QCH
  • Entering and updating patient information in Meditech
  • Communicating with other departments and external agencies as required
  • Receiving sorting and distributing mail
  • Paging physicians, specialty services and Allied Health as requested
  • Booking porters through teletracking for patient and specimen transport
  • Co-ordinating the copying of patients’ images for transfer
  • Responding to questions and requests from patients and families and directing them to the appropriate persons and resources
  • Demonstrate QCH values: collaboration, accountability, innovation and respect

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma
  • Successful completion of certification in medical terminology from a recognized educational institution
  • 1 year related experience
  • 6 months clerical/data entry experience (or enrolled in a degree/diploma program)
  • Strong information technology/systems skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Effective coping skills and the ability to perform multiple demands while working in a fast-paced dynamic work environment
  • Work under minimal supervision, work well within a team and be customer focused
