Pension Specialist, Client Services

The Ontario Pension Board (OPB) administers the Public Service Pension Plan (the PSPP), a major defined benefit pension plan sponsored by the Government of Ontario. With 100,000 members and $31 billion in assets, the PSPP is one of Canada’s largest pension plans.

Our Pension Specialists deliver trusted and caring service to our clients. This opportunity offers you the ability to develop and apply extensive pension lifecycle knowledge in a supportive and collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional client service through various channels of communication, based on analysis of information and determination of client eligibility, options and benefits.
  • Maintain established service standards while processing complex transactions in accordance with applicable legislation and OPB policies.
  • Enhance the service experience for clients by assisting them to make informed decisions regarding the Plan provisions.
  • Support the development and enhancement of internal operational processes with a focus on efficiencies and client satisfaction.
  • Share information with colleagues and make recommendations for continuous improvements in service delivery.
  • Identify situations requiring advisory referral and manage client service delivery risks effectively.
  • Participate in peer training to promote consistency in service delivery.
  • Engage in projects by providing lifecycle expertise, testing, and post-deployment support.
  • Maintain knowledge of changes in legislation, policy, or procedure to ensure accuracy and knowledge transfer.
  • Provide call support as operationally required.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for delivering superior service to clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience in providing pension administration services and dealing with clients in the financial services sector.
  • Strong background in processing client transactions per established best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
  • Familiarity with federal tax legislation and the Pension Benefits Act, with a strong understanding of the pensions industry.
  • Sound judgement, resourcefulness, and strong analytical skills to navigate complex client transactions.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with attention to service levels.
  • Self-directed with a strong desire to learn and embrace teamwork and collaboration.
