Reporting to the Director, Commercial Operations, the Senior Data Analytics Specialist, Technical Lead is responsible for leveraging data to drive strategic decision-making across the sales organization, with a focus on optimizing data architecture, governance, and analytics across multiple platforms, primarily Salesforce. This role involves designing and managing data standards, ensuring data integrity, and improving accessibility while working collaboratively with the data management team to address data quality and cleanup efforts.

The Senior Data Analytics Specialist, Technical Lead will analyze complex datasets from various sources, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to enhance business processes and operational efficiency. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, this individual will play a critical role in developing scalable data models, defining governance frameworks, and optimizing reporting tools to align with organizational goals.

The ideal candidate will balance strategic planning with a hands-on approach, driving data-driven decision-making and supporting company growth by ensuring efficient, well-structured, and validated data operations across the organization.

What the job is all about:

Data Strategy

  • Design and implement scalable data models and structures across multiple platforms, including Salesforce, to ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align data strategies with business objectives and ensure data supports decision-making processes effectively.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the organization’s data maturity, from infrastructure to strategic insights.

Data Analysis and Insights

  • Analyze complex datasets from multiple sources to identify key trends, patterns, and opportunities that inform strategic decisions.
  • Build dashboards and reports to deliver actionable insights and visualize data for business leaders.
  • Collaborate with teams to define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and business metrics.
  • Create and maintain custom reports and dashboards in Salesforce and other platforms to support organizational needs.
  • Develop innovative ways to present data insights using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with the data management team to ensure adherence to data standards, identifying areas for improvement, and informing them when data cleanup efforts are required.
  • Partner with Salesforce administrators and developers to ensure optimal system performance and alignment of data architecture with organizational goals.
  • Provide guidance and training to stakeholders on data tools, governance processes, and best practices.
  • Work with the IS team to o ptimize data integration processes to streamline the flow of information between systems and enhance operational efficiency.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business, Commerce, Data Analytics/Management, Project Management or a similar field.
  • 5 years of experience in data management, data operations, or a related field.
  • Advanced technical skills and practical experience using ERPs, CRMs, Business Intelligence (BI) tools, databases, and accounting systems are vital to this role (e.g. Salesforce.com and Apttus CPQ).
  • Familiarity and experience with data management platforms, analytics tools, cloud-based data storage systems, visualization tools and BI platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, data security, privacy regulations, and associated best practices.
  • Project coordination or Project Management experience, with a track record of successfully contributing to cross-functional projects. Experience working on data management-specific projects is an asset.
  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Outstanding communicator; in-person, in written form, and virtually. Must also demonstrate the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Proficient user of documentation and data analysis tools including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Certifications related to data management / analytics or project management (e.g., CDMP, PMP) are a plus
  • Data Analytics experience in a Sales environment: Ability to use metrics and data analysis to inform sales decisions and drive efficiencies from a commercial operations perspective.
