Your impact
We are looking for an Intermediate Construction Contracts Professional to join our team in Burnaby and Delta, BC. This position is responsible for procurement activities associated with subcontracting of construction services. The incumbent has working knowledge and understanding of procurement and contract management concepts, principles and practices, and the techniques of ensuring task completion. The incumbent understands the role of procurement and contract management and its integration with other project functions, accomplishes value-added expectations, and performs assignments in accordance with established policies and procedures.

We are looking for an Intermediate Construction Contracts Professional to join our team in Burnaby and Delta, BC. This position is responsible for procurement activities associated with subcontracting of construction services. The incumbent has working knowledge and understanding of procurement and contract management concepts, principles and practices, and the techniques of ensuring task completion. The incumbent understands the role of procurement and contract management and its integration with other project functions, accomplishes value-added expectations, and performs assignments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities Include
- Subcontracting assignments typically will consist of major construction services or supply of complex, long lead equipment
- Utilize established policies, procedures, systems, and tools.
- Advises stakeholders in understanding the overall Procurement and Contract Management process.
- Administers Agreements and change orders.
- Reviews contractor invoices and ensures that invoices are approved in accordance with terms and conditions agreed within the agreement.
- Expedites, tracks, and coordinates review of contractor deliverables
- Evaluates facts surrounding contract-related problem areas and applies remedies to resolve it.
- Maintains contracting documentation in a repository.
- Identify, advise, and mitigate contract-related risks.
- Prepare requests for proposal and conduct proposal evaluations.
- Recommend source selections and lead contract negotiations.
- Works under moderate to minimal supervision. No direct reports. Supervises the work of procurement and contracts support personnel who assist with the administration activities.
- Coordinates with client, project or departmental personnel in performance of the subcontracting activities.
- 5-10 years of directly applicable experience and strong knowledge of procurement and construction contracting processes
- Post Secondary education (bachelors certificate) in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain
- Project Management Certification is a bonus
- Strong working knowledge of company risk policies and procedures
- Sound decision and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact and work closely with engineering, project management, construction and clients
- Ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with fellow team members
- Innovative and solutions-oriented thinker
- Exceptional organizational skills and highly detail-oriented
- Office is in Burnaby
- Project is in Tsawwassen – would be required to attend site periodically (likely to on weekly basis)
- This is a contract position with the potential to convert into a full-time permanent role within Jacobs.
