Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager, the Assistant Food Service Director will oversee the daily Aramark food service at the Business Dining site. The Assistant Food Service Director will be responsible for the profitable management of these services under contract with the Client. This is an interactive role with the client, customers, and employees. Establish and maintain a strong relationship with the client. The role will also provide a vision for growing the business.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the team in providing the best hospitality and services throughout the site
  • Build a positive relationship with colleagues and peers
  • Proactively improve communication to foster growth, mutual support, and respect
  • Establish and maintain procedures for purchasing, receiving, storage, preparation, and food service
  • Coordinate and supervise staff on food production, merchandising, quality and cost control, labor, scheduling, staffing, and training
  • Assist front line managers with any operational and staffing issues
  • Train, develop, and mentor the management team and establish succession plans
  • Monitor financial operating results to achieve company and client objectives
  • Prepare business plans, budgets, and forecasts; ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for all business sectors
  • Assist in menu planning and develop new initiatives and programs to increase sales and improve customer satisfaction, including growing the catering business through marketing strategies
  • Ensure all operating standards are achieved and standards for sanitation and food safety are met
  • Maintain records to comply with Aramark and government standards
  • Ensure adherence to Aramark’s policies and procedures and Health and Safety Programs

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Hospitality, Food & Beverage or Business is preferred
  • 2-4 years management experience in multi-unit food service operations
  • Previous experience managing retails is a definite asset
  • Ability to manage in a diverse environment with a focus on client and customer services, systems, and processes
  • Objectively monitor plans and projects; seek process improvements
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, customers, and staff and shift with changing demands
  • Personal ownership and responsibility to build performance-based relationships; create the right solutions to address specific needs
  • Provide immediate support and feedback; accurately assess and address development needs

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office suite applications is required
  • A valid Ontario’s driver’s license and own vehicle required for occasional travel to other business sites
