Overview
The Ontario Energy Board (OEB) is currently seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative and driven Summer Student to join the Engagement, Digital & Creative Services (EDCS) team of our Public Affairs (PA) division.
The PA division acts as a bridge between the OEB and a variety of stakeholders that includes the public, consumers, media, the electricity and natural gas sectors, and government. In doing so, the PA team develops, implements and manages integrated communications strategies to enhance the OEB’s reputation, build consumer trust, and ensure transparent dissemination of information in support of the organization’s mandate. Ultimately, the PA division strives to create and maintain a positive public image, advocate for the organization, and foster strong stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities
You will have the opportunity to gain experience in a broad range of areas, including:
- Assisting with a range of projects to enhance our public website and intranet.
- Conducting research and providing advice on web design and content based on UX and accessibility best practices.
- Updating and creating content for websites
- Contributing to evaluation/analytics reporting.
- Contributing creative ideas and solutions that support the efficient and effective operation of our digital channels.
- Provide operational and project support to the EDCS team.
- Performing other duties that will help you grow within your chosen discipline and field of study.
- Completion of 2nd or 3rd year of a communications, public relations or marketing program with a focus on digital communications, or a user experience program, registered in a co-op program at a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Web publishing experience and familiarity with web content management systems.
- Creative and strategic thinker.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to turn data and insights into compelling, actionable recommendations.
- Passion for UX, usability and accessibility principles.
- Experience with web analytics platforms and Adobe Creative Cloud software.
- MS Office skills; experience in a Microsoft SharePoint environment is an asset.
