Director of Learning Services
The Red Deer Catholic School Division (RDCRS) invites motivated, energetic, team-oriented, and faith-filled individuals to apply for the position of Director of Learning Services.
Position Overview
RDCRS is seeking an inspiring, dynamic, and experienced educational leader who joins our senior leadership team at meetings to collaborate on division decisions. This pivotal role will provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight for key areas impacting student achievement and educator growth across our division. The successful candidate will be a champion for equitable access to high- quality education, deeply committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation and cultural responsiveness.
The Director collaborates with school administrators, central office departments and external partners to build organizational capacity, support continuous improvement and ensure that Catholic identity is at the center of all instructional and system-level initiatives.
The Director of Learning Services provides leadership and mentorship as they oversee Coordinator of Indigenous Education & Learning Services, Coordinator of Career Pathways & Learning Services, and the Religious Education and Curriculum Support Lead Teacher.
About Red Deer Catholic School Division (RDCRS)
Located in Central Alberta, RDCRS serves over 10,200 students in 21 schools across Red Deer, Blackfalds, Sylvan Lake, Rocky Mountain House, Innisfail, and Olds. The division offers:

Key Responsibilities
The Director leads system-level initiatives in alignment with the Alberta Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) and the division’s Catholic mission:
Leading a Learning Community
- Builds instructional leadership capacity, supports professional learning, and fosters collaborative, faith-filled cultures across the division
Embodying Visionary Leadership / Setting Direction
- Aligns curriculum, assessment, and instructional practices with divisional priorities, provincial expectations, and Catholic teachings
- Models integrity, ethical decision-making, faith-based leadership, and a commitment to student success
Developing Leadership Capacity
- Strengthens systems, processes, and staff expertise to support inclusive learning environments that honour dignity, belonging, and spiritual growth
Providing Instructional Leadership
- Leads implementation of curriculum, literacy and numeracy frameworks, assessment practices, and evidence-informed interventions
Managing School Operations & Resources
- Oversees departmental budgets, instructional software systems, resources, and staffing supports effectively, ethically, and in alignment with divisional priorities
Fostering Effective Relationships
- Builds trust and collaborative partnerships with schools, central office, and external stakeholders to strengthen the division’s educational mission
Understanding and Responding to the Larger Societal Context
- Demonstrates awareness of local, provincial, national, and international issues and trends, and their implications for education
Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
- Be an active, practicing Catholic committed to Catholic education
- Hold a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Possess a related postgraduate degree and a Leadership Quality Standard (LQS) Certificate
- Demonstrate leadership experience at the school or system level
- Have expertise in curriculum implementation, instructional leadership, literacy and numeracy, assessment, inclusive education, and educational technology
- Demonstrate exceptional conflict management skills, maintaining composure and fostering constructive solutions in challenging situations
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $153,000 – $160,000, commensurate with experience
- 12-month, out-of-scope position
