Job Description

As a Manager, Maintenance you will be supporting the facilities for multiple businesses within our organization, including our head office. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency and functionality of our facilities. This position requires a proactive and skilled individual who can perform maintenance tasks across various systems and equipment to maintain a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

Facility Maintenance

  • Oversee all building and grounds maintenance, including HVAC and safety systems, ensuring operational reliability and compliance.
  • Utilize technology to monitor and manage system alerts proactively.
  • Direct and coordinate diagnostic and repair activities for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuity.
  • Manage service contracts to optimize vendor performance and support facility operations.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns or facility emergencies to restore functionality and ensure safety.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and mentor maintenance and custodial teams, fostering engagement, accountability, and high performance.
  • Set clear goals and performance standards, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Promote a positive work culture, managing morale and driving team effectiveness across all shifts.

Safety

  • Ensure organizational compliance with safety standards through audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion safety culture by leading training programs and ensuring staff are properly equipped and certified.
  • Represent Facilities on the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) and lead safety-related projects and initiatives.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Establish and maintain robust documentation systems for maintenance activities, work orders, and inventory tracking.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on facility performance, resource utilization, and compliance metrics.
  • Lead event setup and execution for organizational activities, ensuring operational excellence.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Coordinate maintenance efforts with other departments and communicate priorities to management.
  • Lead or support capital projects, including equipment upgrades and installations, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.

Budget & Inventory Management

  • Partner with senior leadership to develop annual budgets, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Oversee inventory control processes, ensuring optimal stock levels and investigating discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • University or college degree in a related field; technical certifications or vocational training in maintenance preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in a related field
  • Ability to travel regularly between business locations as required.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, with the ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, combined with strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Proven ability to lead teams performing physically demanding tasks in varied environments, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols when working with machinery and hazardous materials.
